WIU Horn Festival Set for April 15

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University School of Music and the Western Horn Institute will present the annual WIU Horn Festival Sunday, April 15 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.

The WIU Horn Festival, curated by WIU Horn Professor Randall Faust, is a day-long event featuring guest clinicians, masterclasses and performances, including special guests, an alumni choir and the Festival Horn Choir.

This year's guests are Tomasz Binkowski, principal hornist for the National Opera in Warsaw, Poland; Jena Gardner, who will become a horn professor at WIU in Fall 2018 as Faust retires; Lee Kessinger, of Augustana College and Debra Sherrill-Ward, of Chamber Music Charleston. There will also be a panel discussion with WIU alumnus Davis Smalley and other horn alumni.

The recitals at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. are open free to the public.

Registration for participating hornists is $25 in advance and $30 on site. Individual events are $10 each.
