Note to Returning Students: Winter Weather

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University advises students who are returning to Macomb Sunday (Nov. 25) to use caution while traveling due to the forecasted inclement winter weather. Residence halls open at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25 and classes resume at 8 a.m. Monday Nov. 26.
While residence halls are not open today (Nov. 24), there are some rooms available in Olson Hall. Please call the Corbin-Olson front desk at (309) 298-3500 for more information.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a winter storm warning has been issued for McDonough and surrounding counties from 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25 through midnight, Monday, Nov. 26. The NWS warning indicates that hazardous winter weather conditions are expected to impact the area beginning late tonight and continuing through Sunday evening. Precipitation is likely to begin as rain, or a mix of rain and snow, then will change over to all snow from north to south on Sunday. Expect very hazardous travel conditions Sunday, with near blizzard conditions at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Further changes to the forecast are possible.
