WIU to Host Virtual Interviews for Two Candidates for COEHS Dean

MACOMB, IL – Two candidates for the dean of the College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) at Western Illinois University will be hosted in virtual interviews Tuesday, April 7 and Wednesday, April 8.

Candidates include Frances E. Godwyll, department chair and professor in the University of West Florida Department of Educational Research and Administration and director of the Ed.D/Ed.S program in curriculum and instruction in the College of Education and Professional Studies and Grace Ann Mims, interim dean of the College of Education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

An open session via Zoom will be conducted with Godwyll from 2:45-3:35 p.m. April 7 and with Mimms from 2:30-3:30 p.m. April 8. Links to the Zoom sessions can be obtained by emailing COEHS Office Manager Lisa Turke at LA-Turke@wiu.edu.

Godwyll has served as department chair and professor in the University of West Florida Department of Educational Research and Administration and director of the Ed.D/Ed.S program in curriculum and instruction in the College of Education and Professional Studies since July 2015. Prior to that, he was an associate professor of education leadership and the doctoral program director of educational leadership at the University of North Florida, Jacksonville (2013-15); associate professor of education at the Department of Educational Studies at Ohio University in Athens, OH (2011-13); and an assistant professor of education at the Department of Educational Studies at Ohio University in Athens (2005-11).

Godwyll received his doctoral degree in education from the University of Education, Heidelberg in Heidelberg, Germany; his master's degree in special education and his bachelor's degree in religious studies, both from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

Mims has served as interim dean of the College of Education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney since 2019. Prior to that, she was the chair of the department of counseling and school psychology, as well as a professor and associate professor (2008-2019); as a professor and coordinator of the doctoral program, as well as associate and assistant professor at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD (1993-2008) and a staff counselor at Ball State University in Muncie, IN (1990-92).

Mims received her doctoral degree in philosophy from Southern Illinois University; her master's degree in community counseling and college student personnel from Western Illinois University and her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO.
