MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - Western Illinois University is providing a unique opportunity for MacMurray College students who are beginning the transfer process following MacMurray's recent announcement that the school will close in May.

A newly-signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Western and MacMurray College has resulted in an educational partnership to benefit students due to the closure of MacMurray. Western is waiving its residence requirements (requirement that a certain number of credit hours must be earned at Western Illinois University to earn a degree from Western Illinois University) for MacMurray College students transferring with 75 or more credit hours toward graduation.

Western is waiving application fees and providing unofficial transfer credit evaluations before MacMurray students apply. Transfer students are also eligible for WIU's $2,500 Transfer Commitment scholarship and will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with an academic advisor to ensure a smooth transition to one of Western's campus locations in Macomb or the Quad Cities.

"It's always a blow to the educational community when one of our peer institutions must make a decision like this, and we know that students are facing challenges as their academic future has changed course. Western is here to support MacMurray students, and we will ensure a seamless transfer," said Director of Undergraduate Admissions Douglas Freed.

MacMurray students interested in receiving information about WIU transfer opportunities can contact Interim Director of Transfer Services Kassie Daly at KJ-Daly@wiu.edu or (309) 762-9481.
