GoWest/McDonough County Transit Present Awards to Security Officers

MACOMB, IL – Six Western Illinois University students were honored by GoWest/McDonough County Transit recently for their work as GoWest security officers.
• Officer Alexis Davis, a junior law enforcement and justice administration (LEJA) major, of Mazon, IL, received her Probation Award for passing her probationary period.
• Officer Caitlin Bower, a senior LEJA major, of North Aurora, IL, received her Probation Award for passing her probationary period, and received the Guard of the Semester Award.
• Officer Giovanni Donato, a junior LEJA major, of Gurnee, IL, received his Probation Award for passing his probationary period.
• Officer Arnold Estrada, a senior physics major, of Chicago, was promoted to Corporal and received an award for Guard of the Semester.
• Officer Diego Garcia-Sanchez, a senior LEJA major, of Waukegan, IL, was promoted to Corporal.
• First Lieutenant Charlie Janes, a senior LEJA major, of Park Ridge, IL, was awarded a Years of Service Award, and a Certificate of Appreciation for his dedication to Go West Security. He served at Go West Security for 3 1/2 years. For his excellent reliability and performance, Janes has been granted the First Lieutenant Plaque. The leadership at Go West Security said they "wish him the best on his future endeavors as he serves out his final shifts."
The Go West Security Program, which began in 2005, was created to provide students an opportunity for a hands-on, practicum-driven experience, while also providing a service to the University community.
