April First Wednesday Set for April 5

MACOMB, IL -- The Western Illinois University Department of Art and Design's upcoming "First Wednesday" event will take place from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 5 in Garwood Hall, the Heating Plant Annex and the University Art Gallery.

The WIU Art and Design faculty and students combine their efforts to offer creative, hands-on activities to visitors. This event is open free to the public, and visitors are welcome from campus and the surrounding community and region.

*Everyone is welcome, but all children under age 13 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

April 5 activities include:

Garwood Hall

• Printmaking – Professor Bill Howard, Garwood 12
• Screenprinting and Decorating Reusable Bags – Professors Susan Czechowski and Jenny Knavel, with the Saint Francis Catholic Newman Ministry (wiucatholic.org), Garwood 11 and 16
• Earth Day - Five Elements Key Chain – Associate Professor Ta-Teh Ku, Garwood 24
• Texture Paintings – Professor Tim Waldrop, Garwood 25
• Exquisite Corpse Drawings – Professor Damon McArthur, Garwood 34

Heating Plant Annex
• Plutonic Solids in Folded Paper – Professor Duke Oursler, HPA 105
• Tree of Life Ornaments – Professor Kat Myers, HPA 107
• Full Moon Drawings – Associate Professor Ian Shelly, HPA 111

The University Art Gallery will also be open late during the event.

Check out all three current exhibitions "Close to Home," by Waldrop, second floor gallery; "The Federal Art Project Collection of Western Illinois University," first floor gallery and, in the Heating Plant's Annex Gallery, "A Romance of Many Dimensions," by WIU alumnus Silas Coggeshall.
