MOLINE, IL - - Western Illinois University, in conjunction with STARNET, regions I and III will host a free Bilingual Family Concert, "Being Bilingual Rocks," for Quad Cities families from 3-5 p.m. Friday, June 16, at the WIU Quad Cities campus, 3200 River Dr., Moline, IL.

"We absolutely cannot wait to move and groove with families on campus," said WIU Director of Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood Lindsay Meeker. "We are also looking forward to sharing brand new opportunities for families of children ages birth to five, coming to WIU-QC for the summer and upcoming year."

The concert will entail an interactive, one-of-a-kind experience created by Parents Choice Award winners Alina Celeste and Mi Amigo Hamiet, incorporating original and traditional songs from the Latin America community, art and play activities designed to be accessible and inclusive of diverse backgrounds, with free books for children and families to take home.

The music, sponsored by STARNET, will incorporate expression and confidence through a blend of bossanova, rumba-flamenco, contemporary Caribbean beats, bluegrass twang and humor.

Food and refreshments will be provided to all attendees and registration is encouraged.
