George R. Thompson Obituary

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University retired Facilities Management Building Service Worker George R. Thompson passed away Tuesday, July 25.
Cremation Rites were accorded by Martin-Hollis Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29 at the Prairie City Cemetery with Full Military Rites.
Thompson began working at WIU in Aug. 1994 and retired in June 2012 after 18 years of service.
Thompson had worked for several farms and factories in the Macomb region, in addition to his job at WIU. One of his favorite pastimes was taking his grandchildren out for fishing trips.
Peggy Thompson, his wife, survives him. He leaves behind his daughter, Katena (Chuck) Eddington; his grandson, Tyler (Jeannette) Eddington, and his granddaughter, Brittnee Eddington. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters, Roberta (Gil) Stutes and Linda (Bob) Lewis; his brother Gary (Mary) Thompson; and many other grieving family members.
