WIU Alpha Tau Chapter Successful Smokin' Hog Fundraiser

MACOMB, IL - - MACOMB, IL - - The Alpha Tau Chapter at Western Illinois University hosted their annual "Smokin' Hog" fundraising event on October 28 and received a generous amount of support from participants.

"The 31st Annual Smokin' Hog included a lunch and dinner served at the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity House which was visited by hundreds of members within the Macomb community as well as a number of our chapter's alumni and families," Alpha Gamma Rho Noble Leader Cody Cornell said. "Following the meals was the 31st Annual Smokin' Hog Concert held at the IceHouse in Macomb where an alumni band, Lacy's Ditch, opened for young local talent Gabe Carlock. We are very grateful for the support of the Macomb community and beyond, WIU and advocates of Alpha Gamma Rho!"

Smokin' Hog exceeded Alpha Gamma Rho's expectations and the event surpassed their fundraising goal.

"This year was a record year for Smokin' Hog, we smashed our goal of $31,000 and raised $33,000," Cornell said. "We are proud to be able to donate money back into the Macomb community to strengthen our city, university and region."

Cornell expressed gratitude on behalf of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, Alpha Tau Chapter.

"Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, Alpha Tau Chapter is extremely grateful for the support of Macomb, WIU, surrounding regions, alumni and sponsors for our 31st Annual Smokin' Hog. After 31 years of Smokin' Hog, the men of Alpha Gamma Rho are beyond proud to be a part of such a great legacy. These funds are going directly back into our community to create a stronger WIU and a stronger Macomb. From the men of Alpha Gamma Rho, thank you very much!"
