MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - Western Illinois University Phi Beta Delta invites students, faculty, and staff to apply for membership in the chapter and attend an informational meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 6 in the University Union Algonquin Room.

In today's global society, international education is more important than ever. Phi Beta Delta is an International Honor Society that promotes the exchange of ideas and information involving international education. Its diverse membership includes faculty, staff, students, community members and alumni who promote the international community. There are more than 200 Phi Beta Delta chapters in the United States and several other countries.

The Eta Epsilon Chapter at WIU provides scholarships for international study and involves the international community through various events. These include fall and spring semester culture nights for new international students, a pumpkin carving/wiener roasting social event, arranging a cultural presentation for area high school students and a scholarship dinner featuring cuisine from a country other than the United States, along with presenting cultural aspects of that country.

Many have found that membership in Phi Beta Delta and participation in its activities is an excellent resume item to have when applying for scholarships and employment.

Current members will be present to present information and answer questions about Phi Beta Delta. Those unable to attend the session, but are interested in applying, should contact Membership Chair Patti Jones at PI-Jones@wiu.edu or President John Carlson at JP-Carlson@wiu.edu.
