WIU Dept. of Communication to Host 34th Annual Wayne N. Thompson Lecture March 25

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Department of Communication will host the 34th Annual Wayne N. Thompson Lecture with keynote speaker and Professor of Communications Timothy Levine at 3:45 p.m. Monday, March 25 in the Capitol Room on campus. This event is open and free to the public.

Levine's lecture titled, "The Social Science of Lying and Deception" dives into the decades of research on the deception that he developed. He is among an array of productive researchers in the field of Communication that has focused on the ethics of deception in a variety of fields.

His research has been funded by the United States Justice Department, the National Science Foundation and the Department of Defense. He is the author of the book titled, "Duped: Truth-Default Theory and the Social Science of Lying and Deception."

His lecture will be of interest to any student, faculty or staff member whose interests lay in criminology, psychology, sociology, business, education or communication.
