MACOMB, IL – High school senior Sarah Stinemates, of Carthage, IL, has been awarded a Western Illinois University President's Scholarship, in conjunction with the AIM HIGH Western Commitment scholarship. These scholarships cover four years of tuition, fees, a double residence hall room and a standard board for eight semesters.

"I chose Western because it is both close to home and is one of the few schools around the area that offers a Music Therapy program," Stinemates said. "The deciding factor was when I attended a Music Discovery Day at Western and met the faculty. Everyone was so welcoming and kind and I felt like I truly belonged."

In high school, Stinemates participated in several activities, including concert and marching band, dance, Scholastic Bowl, Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America, Key Club, Chess Club, volleyball and National Honor Society; holding multiple leadership positions.

At Western, Stinemates plans to major in Music Therapy and participates in the Jazz band, ensemble, RockyTHON and any religious-affiliated organization.

To qualify for the WIU President's Scholarship, students must first be awarded the AIM HIGH Western Commitment Scholarship. The scholarship decision is also weighted by proof of volunteer and community service.
