MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - - Western Illinois University Psychology Club and Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) will collaborate to bring awareness of mental health in the workplace.

This event will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 11 on Leatherneck Link. It is free to all majors and minors, and all are welcome to attend.

"The well-being of employees can impact an organization's success, so understanding mental health in the workplace should be a priority. It can be a powerful initiative to foster healthier and more resilient employees and organizations," WIU Professor of Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior Susan Stewart said.

The Psychology Club is an organization that aims to improve the program climate and unite like-minded individuals in the psychology department. The Psychology Club allows students to meet their peers in the department and to build their appreciation for psychology. The organization provides learning opportunities, resume-building opportunities, volunteer opportunities, as well as socializing opportunities.

Founded in 1948, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 300,000 individual members, SHRM's mission is to serve the needs of HR professionals by providing the most essential and comprehensive resources available. As an influential voice, it also advances the profession to ensure that HR is recognized as an essential partner in developing and executing organizational strategy. The WIU SHRM Student Chapter is led by student leaders who are elected to serve on the Executive Board and is guided by faculty advisors. It provides learning opportunities, resume-building opportunities, volunteer opportunities, as well as socializing opportunities.
