WIU-AFED to Host Corliss For Presentation April 26

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University School of Accounting, Finance, Economics, and Decision Sciences (AFED) will host David J. Corliss, the principal data scientist at Grafham Analytics on "Ethical Issues and Best Practices in Data and Data Analytics," from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday, April 26 in Stipes Hall, room 121 or virtually via Zoom.

This event is open to any student, faculty, staff, professional or other data enthusiasts for a broad exploration and discussion of ethical issues surrounding data and analytics.

The schedule will include:
8 a.m., Doors open with breakfast snacks and coffee/tea
8:10 a.m., Introductions
8:15-9:05 a.m., Data Ownership
9:15-10:05 a.m., Data Privacy
10:15-11:05 a.m., Ethics of Data Usage
11:15 a.m.-12:05 p.m., Ethics of Data in the Workplace
12:10-1 p.m., Lunch
1-1:50 p.m., Bias in Analytics
2-2:50 p.m., Ethics of Algorithm and Model Failure
3-3:50 p.m., Ethical Analytics Practice in the Workplace
4-4:50 p.m., Analytics Intentionally Used to Cause Harm
4:50-5:20 p.m., Post-event mixer and open house
