MOLINE, IL - - Western Illinois University, in conjunction with WQPT-PBS, will host a free Bilingual Family Concert, "Being Bilingual Rocks" for Quad Cities families from 6-7 p.m. Saturday, May 18, on the WIU-Quad Cities campus. Rain or shine, all are welcome.

"Chicago-based musicians, Alina and Hamlet, are joining us as keynote presenters at our Multilingual Education Conference and it just made sense to continue the day of learning and fun with a family-focused music event. The free concert will feature the entire Being Bilingual Rocks band. We are so excited to have these award-winning musicians perform for our community," WQPT Director of Outreach and Education Melissa Gravert said.

The concert will celebrate love, acceptance and diversity, which weaves together in an eclectic fusion of Latin, blues, bluegrass, ska and original as well as traditional songs from Latin America. Everyone is welcome to sing, dance, learn Spanish/English and play musical games in a joyful, unique blend of cultures sounds and languages.
