UHDS Partners with Goodwill for Move-Out Donations

MACOMB, IL – To reduce the amount of waste on campus, Western Illinois University Housing and Dining Services partnered again with Goodwill of Macomb (Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois) during the Spring 2025 residence hall move-out.

Donation bins were placed in each residence hall. The Corbin-Olson, Thompson and Grote lobbies had bins for students to drop their unwanted items or items they did not want to take home.

In total, 48 bins filled with items such as microwaves, minifridges, shoes, clothes and more, were picked up and taken to Goodwill. This partnership resulted in a reduction of 4.39 tons of waste sent to landfills in 2025 and a total of 10.24 tons during our partnership.
