Elfrink Named Accountancy Chair

MACOMB, IL – John A. Elfrink, professor and dean of the Harmon College of Business Administration at Central Missouri State University, has been named chair of the department of accountancy at Western Illinois University, effective Aug. 1, according to Larry C. Wall, interim dean of the College of Business and Technology at Western.

Elfrink will replace Marcia Lucas who has served as interim chair since 2005. Lucas will return to teaching in the accountancy department.

Elfrink has served as dean of the Harmon College of Business Administration at Central Missouri State University since 2004, and as the accounting department chair from 1993-2004. Prior to his years at Central Missouri State University, Elfrink served as a faculty member at Ferris State University, Southeast Missouri State University, McKendree College, Lincoln University and William Woods College.

Elfrink has been an active researcher throughout his years in higher education, publishing in a wide variety of professional journals and making numerous presentations at national professional organizations in the field of accountancy. In addition he has been actively involved in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, as well as the Missouri Association of Accounting Education where he has held many offices including president.

“We are looking forward to having Dr. Elfrink join our college and share the expertise he has gained through his years in higher education as he assists us in maintaining AACSB-International accreditation for our accountancy degrees and leading our department of accountancy,” Wall said.

Elfrink earned his doctorate degree from St. Louis University and his master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Southeast Missouri State University.
