Farm Credit Administration Member to Speak at WIU March 23

MACOMB, IL -- Leeland Strom, a Farm Credit Administration (FCA) board member, will be on the Western Illinois University-Macomb campus Friday, March 23 to speak to agriculture classes and to present a seminar to the public.

Strom's seminar on agricultural credit and the rural economy will begin at 2 p.m. in Stipes Hall 121. His visit is sponsored by Citizen's National Bank and the WIU department of agriculture.

Strom, a Kane County native, was appointed to a six-year term on the FCA board by President Bush in December 2006. The Farm Credit Administration is the federal regulatory board that oversees the member-owned local Farm Credit Services.

In addition to serving as an FCA board member, Strom is the chairman of the Board of Directors for the Farm Credit Insurance Corporation. He has served on the board of 1st Farm Credit Services, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago's Advisory Council on Agriculture and the Agricultural Advisory Committee for Congressman and former House Speaker Dennis Hastert.
