Six members of Western Illinois University's Student Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (SCIMA) recently attended the Institute for Management Accountants (IMA) Mid-America Council Leadership Training Session in Delavan, WI.

The council includes professional members from 15 IMA Chapters in three states. Students attended such sessions as treasury, education, communications, student activities and membership. They also participated in lectures regarding business ethics and public speaking.

Students attending included James Kveton of Sandwich (IL); Megan Dailey of Lewistown (IL); Michel DeMoss of Rushville (IL); Chris Baisden of Poplar Grove (IL); Lance Russell of Morton (IL); and Kara Barber of Chillicothe (IL).

"Our students returned with new ideas to improve WIU's student chapter," said Amy Ford, WIU accountancy instructor and SCIMA adviser. "It was a worthwhile and productive event."

In addition to the IMA Leadership Session, numerous WIU SCIMA members also participated in the ILLOWA IMA Chapter meeting in Muscatine, IA earlier during the Spring 2007 semester.
