Dear WIU Campus Community,

Voting is one of the fundamental rights we enjoy as U.S. citizens. For the first time in a presidential general election, eligible voters in Illinois can vote prior to Election Day. I am pleased to announce that, thanks to our local election officials, especially McDonough County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes, the University Union has been designated an early voting center.

Early voting begins Tuesday, Oct. 14 and ends, by state law, on Thursday, Oct. 30. Early voting will be available in the University Union Concourse from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 14-17, Oct. 20-23 and Oct. 27-30. Those who are eligible to vote at any polling place in McDonough County can vote on campus. Voters casting a ballot at an early voting center must have valid identification, such as a current driver's license, a state-issued ID card or another government-issued ID with a photograph. A WIU student ID may also be used.

We are appreciative that McDonough County officials have selected the University Union as an early voting center to further accommodate the schedules of our students, faculty and staff. With 12 days of early voting available, every eligible voter should be able to find a convenient time to participate in this important privilege of citizenship.

Sincerely,
Al Goldfarb
President
