April 8, 2009

MACOMB, IL -- Come out and join members of several Western Illinois University departments and west central Illinois education and business communities to celebrate "a decade of tech" at WIU's College of Education and Human Services' Tenth Annual Tech Fest on Wednesday, April 15.
Slated for 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in the Horrabin Hall gym, Tech Fest 2009 will feature numerous participants, including exhibits from the students at the MacArthur Early Childhood Center (Macomb), Lincoln School (Macomb), Rushville-Industry High School (Rushville, IL) and Macomb High School. McDonough District Hospital (Macomb) will also be exhibiting and will conduct a demonstration. In addition, various disciplines and departments at WIU will be showcasing their forays and innovations in technology, with exhibits from education; geography; music; broadcasting; law enforcement and justice administration; instructional design and technology; dietetics, fashion merchandising and hospitality; and University Relations.
At 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, Mike Dickson, director of special projects at Western, will deliver the Tech Fest 2009 keynote address, also in the Horrabin Hall gym.
"Tech Fest is an excellent way to illustrate how technology connects the University and the community," said COEHS Dean Bonnie Smith-Skripps. "The event provides an opportunity for the University's departments and community organizations to showcase the latest in technology, and it demonstrates the partnerships Western has with area schools and community businesses," she added.
Tech Fest 2009 will be held during COEHS Week. For more information about COEHS Week, see wiu.edu/coehs/coehsweek09.
