MACOMB, IL -- Jennifer Grimm, communication academic adviser at Western Illinois University, has been named the 2008 Employee of the Year by the Council of Administrative Personnel (COAP) for her extraordinary leadership and for the positive impact she makes on her communication degree students.

The annual award, presented by COAP in conjunction with the University president, recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of a COAP member who has far exceeded his or her duties.

"Jennifer is organized, efficient and proactive in her approach with her students. She keeps me informed of what my student-athletes are doing or are not doing and lets me know of any issues that might impact them," said Grimm's nominator Lisa Melz, director of athletic academic services. "One of Jennifer's biggest accomplishments is the fact that she shows in her actions on a daily basis that she really loves what she does. She is always pleasant, positive and a team player. However, she also holds her students accountable for their actions. She is someone, who through what she does, impacts my job in a positive manner; and I am sure that is the case with others she comes in contact with."

Grimm is a member of the University Theme Committee, the Council on Admission, Graduation and Academic Standards (CAGAS) and the Council Of Academic Advisors. She serves as a College of Fine Arts and Communication orientation leader, as a Student Judicial Programs board member and has served on two search committees.

"The COAP Executive Council is pleased to honor Jennifer Grimm for her hard work and dedication," said Amy Spelman, director of alumni programs and COAP president.
