MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Department of Educational Leadership is to prepare transformational leaders who cultivate exemplary learning organizations.

The Department of Educational Leadership offers comprehensive graduate academic programs in educational leadership. Students may earn a Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.), an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree, or a Doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.).

The master's program concentrates on the general background and skills needed for entry into positions of educational leadership, especially the principalship. Courses in the education specialist program level build on this base, contribute to continued professional growth, and lead to qualification for the position of superintendent of schools.

The doctoral program focuses on the improvement of student achievement through identification and integration of current best practices, studying high-performance schools, and integration of technology into curriculum.
