Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Rouse joined Western Illinois University as an assistant professor of Educational Leadership in the fall of 2020. She is also the graduate program coordinator for the M.S.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Principal Endorsement programs in the School of Education. Dr. Rouse facilitates a variety of courses that focus on the common core, special populations, transforming organizations, and school improvement. Dr. Rouse’s primary research interests include drop out prevention, special education, and women in leadership. Prior to coming to Western, she was a consultant for the Iowa Department of Education, specifically serving as a curriculum and professional development point of contact for Iowa Learning Online. Some of her most rewarding work has been in providing support to families who have a child with an IEP as they manage the IEP process within the school system, and learn how to work through conflicts that may occur during their child’s educational journey. This passion stems from having a daughter with a congenital visual impairment.
