Curriculum Vitae»

I received my PhD. from Arizona State University in the field of educational psychology. I have been at WIU since 2007 teaching courses in learning and cognition, human development, assessment and evaluation, decision making with quantitative data, and research methods. My favorite part of the job is accompanying my graduate students through their culminating projects.

I am a co-managing editor of the Midwestern Educational Researcher and am involved in other ways with the Midwestern Educational Research Association including presenting research at the yearly conference. I am also involved in a variety of service activity throughout the university.

Students who have taken courses with me compliment my ability to make difficult material accessible and applicable to  their careers. As one student claimed, “I never thought I would say it, but I enjoy statistics and now understand  conceptually how to interpret the tables, charts, and various types of data that I have been reading over the past years.”  Another noted, “Sharon is an awesome instructor and taught the material in a way that made it easy for everyone to  understand. Plus, she truly cared that everyone understood and dedicated the time to be sure that such was the case.”
