The Department of English & Journalism supports the development of student writing throughout the university, contributes to the general education of all students, and provides practical and theoretical instruction in English, English Education, and Journalism. We offer undergraduate majors and minors in creative writing, English education, literature, journalism, and professional writing. Our graduate program provides intensive study leading to the Master of Arts in English.
Our students enjoy
successful careers in publishing, education, and
other fields where critical thinking and writing are important. Western
English & Journalism graduates also attend some of the best
graduate schools in the nation, earning master’s and
doctoral degrees in English, Journalism, law, and other fields.
