The Department of English & Journalism supports student writing throughout the university, contributes to the general education of all students, and provides practical and theoretical instruction in English, English Education, and Journalism.

English Education students in the news

Three English Education students presented at the Illinois Association of Teachers of English Conference on October 17 in Rockford, IL. Kristina Pedroni gave a presentation on teaching critical thinking skills. Kristin Dragos and Gianna Valentine gave a presentation on using Google applications to teach English.


Student members of the local National Council of Teachers of English held a 4-hour writing marathon to celebrate the National Day on Writing on October 20. Participants wrote on their own or from prompts provided. Their writing will appear in the National Gallery of Writing.
