Karen Mauldin-Curtis manages the Peace Corps Coverdell Fellows Program in Community Development at Western Illinois University. She served in the Dominican Republic with the Peace Corps and is an alumna of the Fellows Program at WIU. She holds a Master of Arts in Geography from WIU and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, San Diego.

Karen was named manager of the program on August 1, 2005. She is responsible for oversight of all aspects of the program, including design and supervision of training activities, internship site placement and support, development of program partnerships, and management of grant funds.

When not involved with the Fellows Program, Karen is busy raising her three children, teaching yoga, and helping with the small-scale, organic market garden and CSA that she and her husband operate.

Carrie Kessler has been the Administrative Liaison for the Peace Corps Coverdell Fellows Program since April 2008. She has a degree in Individual Studies, with an emphasis in Human Resource Management, from Western Illinois University. Prior to joining the Peace Corps Coverdell Fellows Program, Carrie served as Operations Supervisor for Adecco Employment Services.

As Administrative Liaison, her responsibilities include managing communications with current Fellows, alumni, university departments, internship sites, Fellows/USA, AmeriCorps, and other state and national partners. She also assists with: student and community recruitment, training development and implementation, internship supervision and reporting, and general accounting.
