Spring 2021 Residence Hall Move-In

All students who live in WIU residence halls are required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test (taken AFTER January 6, 2021) before receiving their residence hall room key. Upon arrival to their respective residence hall, students will be asked to show proof of their negative test with a hard copy document or on their mobile device.

All Halls open at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 16, 2021

All residence halls will open for check-in beginning at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 16, 2021. You can check into your hall between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm anytime/day after the initial "open" date listed above.

Residence Hall Move-In for the Spring semester is simple. . .

  • All students should proceed to the front desk in their residence hall to check-in. If a student is unable to obtain a COVID-19 test before arriving on campus, they should proceed to the free test location on campus first. See below for more details.
  • Masks are required when moving in, but are not required to be worn in your residence hall room.
  • All meal plans will not be active until a student checks-in to his/her residence hall room. Meal plans activate 15-minutes after check-in.

If a student is unable to obtain a COVID-19 test before arriving on campus, they will be directed to the free test location at the meter parking lot at the northeast corner of the University Union. The WIU site will be open from 10 am - 4 pm Saturday, January 16 - Monday, January 18. For those arriving on campus after 4 pm, they will be allowed to move into their residence hall, but will be directed to perform a test the next morning.

If a student does not want to take a COVID-19 test, they will be provided on-campus housing accommodations in a designated quarantine location for a period of 10 days. Students who select this option should first go to their respective residence hall for additional guidance and directions.

*Note: The CDC recommends that an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 should refrain from taking a test at least 90 days post-recovery. If an individual has had COVID-19 in the past 90 days, they are not subject to this request prior to returning to campus.
