Dual Enrollment FAQs

How much will a course cost?

Your dual enrollment class will cost ⅓ of the normal tuition rate though a special automatic scholarship offered only to dual enrollment students. In Fall 2021, a 3-credit hour class will cost you just $310 for the semester.

You will not be charged student fees, but you are responsible for the one-time $15 transcript fee, any required course materials (textbooks, lab fees, access codes) and a $20 parking permit (if you are taking an on-campus course).

Is there a payment plan available?

Yes, you can set up a payment plan to split your tuition cost into several monthly payments. There is a $2.00 per month transaction fee. You can complete a contract in your STARS student account. More payment information is available here.

How will my credit transfer to other colleges/universities?

Many WIU courses will be accepted at other institutions. General education courses with an Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) code associated will transfer seamlessly to any other state institution in Illinois (4 year or community college).

If you plan to attend a private or out-of-state institution, you should contact the receiving school to see how the courses will transfer. Transferology.com is a free tool you can use to see how courses will transfer between institutions.

What if I do not meet the admission requirements?

Contact Undergraduate Admissions to discuss options if you do not have a 2.75 GPA or higher.

What do I do after I have been accepted?

Once you are accepted as a dual enrollment student, you will be sent an email with your next steps. This email will include your WIU account details and contact information for your academic advisor so you can register for classes. You will also be invited to attend an orientation workshop to go over these next steps and prepare for classes.

You can request an individual next steps/orientation appointment here.
