Dr. Barr (He, Him) is an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at Western Illinois University, and teaches courses in educational leadership to aspiring principals and superintendents on the Macomb and Quad Cities campuses.  Dr. Barr is the founding director of the Arlington and Arlene Seymour Center for Rural Education Advocacy, Policy, and Research and is the director for the Great River Teacher Corps.  His research interests include all aspects of rural education, with a particular focus on the college choice processes of rural high school students and place based learning.  In addition to rural education, he is interested in school-based administrator autonomy, flat teams in organizations, and certification processes in critical teacher shortage areas.  Dr. Barr is a former middle and high school mathematics and social studies teacher in North and South Carolina, and also an elementary and middle school assistant principal and principal in North Carolina.
