Directions for Applying to the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership

Note: As early in this process as possible (upon initial contact), a meeting (phone, Skype, or face-to-face) needs to be held to discuss the potential student’s career goals so a determination can be made if the WIU EdD in Educational Leadership is an appropriate degree and if it is to determine which option is most appropriate.

Step 1: Complete the EDL doctoral program application.

Step 2: Secure at least two references using the reference form.

Step 3: Email a copy of your resume.

The application, references and resume can be scanned and emailed to educationalleadership@wiu.edu, faxed (309-298-2222) or mailed:

Step 4: Apply online to the Graduate School.

Step 5:  Send official copies of your transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate coursework to the graduate school.  You do not need to request WIU transcripts.  Additionally, if you have not taken any coursework since you last attended WIU, you do not need to send new transcripts. Transcripts need to be sent to:

Step 6: Schedule your interview.

Step 7: Prepare your educational leadership portfolio.

Step 8: Complete your interview, writing sample, and share your leadership portfolio.
