Memorial Services Held for Bath

MACOMB, IL – Former Western Illinois University chemistry Assistant Professor Donald A. Bath passed away at his home in Macomb on Monday, May 27.

A memorial service for Bath was held June 1.

Bath retired from WIU in 2003 but remained active within the chemistry department. He came to Western in 1978 after working at the University of Illinois and at Illinois State University.

During his time at Western, Bath presented more than 30 papers, published several articles and wrote one book. He had also served as chair of the Arts and Sciences Faculty Council twice, was a repeat winner of the chemistry department's outstanding teacher award and was a past president of the Illinois Association of Chemistry Teachers.

Bath was a member and officer in the American Chemical Society and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Macomb and the Civil War Round Table in Macomb. He was also a volunteer parent-coach for the Special Olympics.
