Services Set for McCamey

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Law Enforcement and Justice Administration Professor Emeritus William "Bill" McCamey passed away at his Fulton County home Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton. Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 22 from 5-8 p.m. at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.

McCamey joined the WIU law enforcement faculty in 1982 after earning his bachelor's and master's degrees from Western. He taught courses in criminal justice management, fire administration and policing. He also taught fire administration courses through the National Fire Academy and earned his doctoral degree from the University of Iowa.

While at Western, McCamey helped certify 1,800 police officers as juvenile officers and served as a WIU graduate coordinator. He had also co-authored four law enforcement textbooks, published numerous articles on fire science and criminal justice and was the editor of the Journal of Security Administration. He retired from WIU in 2012.

McCamey had also served as a Canton firefighter, a police officer, an investigator and a paramedic.

McCamey is survived by his wife and two daughters.
