MACOMB, IL — Western Illinois University will host the 42nd Annual Performance Tested Bull Sale at 7 p.m. Friday, March 14 in the WIU Livestock Center. More than 50 bulls are for sale this year.

According to Western Illinois University School of Agriculture Assistant Professor Samantha Cunningham, breeds represented are Angus, Simmental, SimAngus and Red Angus.

"All bulls have been Merial SureHealthTM certified, tested free of persistent BVD and their dams have tested free of Johnes," Cunningham noted. "They have also undergone a complete reproductive and soundness exam to ensure that they are ready to go to work for you."

Extensive production information is available on every bull in the offering. This information should help breeders improve herds through known genetic information, she noted.

"In addition to average daily gain, data will be provided on rib eye area, 12th rib fat, marbling, scrotal circumference, pelvic area, frame score and birth weight, as well as EPD data from the respective breed associations," Cunningham added.

The bulls are located at the WIU Beef Evaluation Station, and the station is open daily for those who would like to view the bulls prior to the sale. The sale catalog, photos of the bulls and additional information on the bulls are also available at the School of Agriculture's website at www.wiu.edu/cbt/agriculture/animal-research/bull_test/index.php.

The WIU Livestock Center is located one mile west of U.S. Route 67 on Tower Road in Macomb.
