A Great Day to Be a Leatherneck and Celebrate Agriculture at Western Illinois University!

MACOMB, IL — Join the Western Illinois University School of Agriculture and the Fighting Leathernecks Thursday, Sept. 3 to celebrate two great traditions at Western Illinois University… agriculture and Leatherneck Football!

The WIU School of Agriculture and Western Illinois Athletics are sponsoring "Ag Day," featuring agricultural festivities from 4-6 p.m. just north of Hanson Field (in Q-Lot) at WIU. The Fighting Leathernecks will kick off the season opener game at 6 p.m. vs. the Eastern Illinois Panthers at Hanson Field.

Ag Day events are open free to the public. Adults, children and FFA and 4H members who pre-order football tickets through the WIU School of Ag (at www.wiu.edu/ag/football) will receive discounted ticket prices. Adult tickets are $8 each, and each ticket for a child (11 and under) or 4H and FFA members is $5.

Tickets purchased through the WIU School of Agriculture will support WIU ag student organizations—$5 from each adult ticket and $2 from each child or discounted 4H/FFA ticket will be donated to the ag student organization of the purchaser's choice. For a list of ag student organizations, see www.wiu.edu/ag/football.

Ag Day will include a variety of activities, including a "mini" WIU Ag Mech Club Farm Expo (in Q-Lot), and the mini "Ag Mech Show" will feature products from agricultural product vendors from across the region. Vendors can register for a product booth/table online at www.wiu.edu/ag/football/.

Other Ag Day activities will include: Ag Olympics (for those 18 and under); Barnyard Discoveries for Kids; music provided by WIU's student-run radio station, WIUS 88.3 "The Dog"; and a display of the latest farm equipment.

In addition, food will be served on site by the Tri-County Cattlemen and Pork Producers.

To purchase football tickets and/or to register as a vendor for the mini "Ag Mech Farm Expo," visit www.wiu.edu/ag/football.
