Who I Am: Hi there! My name is Karissa Kouchis. I am a self-proclaimed CEO "Chief Energy Officer," and a believer that one person with positive thoughts IS a majority. I enjoy little things like collecting coffee mugs, meeting new people, organizing my planner, and writing thank you notes.

What I Do: I am a senior (WOW... still not used to that) at WIU and a double major in communication and journalism. I LOVE being involved which is why I joined lots and lots clubs and activities on campus. Here's a sampling: I am a Division I athlete at WIU on the softball team and also the team captain, president of Student Athlete Advisory Committee, recently retired morale director for WIU Dance Marathon, photographer for the Western Courier student newspaper, and member of the Centennial Honors College.

Why I Love WIU: Ah... So you want to know why I love WIU, huh? Easy. At Western Illinois University, you aren't minimized to a nine-digit student identification number. The people on this campus care for you, they know your name, your story, they want you to succeed. There are so many places where it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle, but at WIU the opportunities for involvement are never-ending. Through athletics and academics, I have been introduced to a Leatherneck culture and community filled with friends and mentors that have left a lasting and permanent impression on my heart. There is absolutely, hands down, NO OTHER PLACE IN THE WORLD I would have wanted to attend school for my undergrad. I am extremely lucky to call myself a Leatherneck.
