WIU-QC Marketing Class to Hold Event, Get Over It!

MOLINE, IL - - Western Illinois University-Quad Cities marketing students are getting real-world experience by hosting an event, Get Over It! Overcoming Life's Hurdles, which will be held from 1-3 p.m. Friday, April 22 at the WIU-QC Riverfont Hall.

Professor of Management and Marketing Ann Walsh is having her marketing management (MKT 497) class design, develop and host the event, which will have guest speakers to discuss the emotional hurdles individuals face in life, such as loss, stress, physical limitation and past missteps.

Speakers include: Rusty Boruff, creator of One Eighty Zone—an organization focused on finding jobs for the homeless; Kathy David, who owns a yoga studio and previously worked for John Deere; Bob Juarez, founder of the Quad Cities Adaptive Sports Association; Anthony Law, a minority counselor for Carl Sandburg College (Galesburg, IL); and Mike Vondran, CEO/founder of TAG Communication and founder of HAV Life.

There will also be games, food and prizes. The cost is $5 to attend.
