MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Staff Clerk Andrea Francis, of Senior Library Specialist in Libraries, has been named the AI and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for February.

Francis was hired as a Library Clerk III in Libraries in November 1993 and was promoted to her current position in November 2015.

According to her nominator, Andrea goes above and beyond her duties as a Library Specialist. Along side her normal duties, she has taken on a role to help protect and preserve a $10 million book collection.

"She is the go-to person from her unit," said her nominator. "She has a positive impact on the University in the reference duty you provide for library users. Your behind-the-scenes work on your unit's web pages are viewed by thousands, both on and off campus."

Francis has been with the University for 24 years and the work she has done for the University is invaluable. The nominator added that Andrea "enthusiastically volunteers and performs additional work" which shows that she is truly dedicated and passionate about what she does.

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established and endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, and staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Connie Lincoln at CM-Lincoln@wiu.edu
