WIU Mourns Death of Admissions Employee

MACOMB, IL -- Jeanine Pollmeier, 63, an admissions records supervisor at Western Illinois University, passed away Aug. 8 in Macomb. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

"The Western Illinois University community mourns Jeanine's passing," said President Jack Thomas. "We extend our condolences to her family, friends and co-workers."

Pollmeier joined the WIU Office of Admissions staff as a clerk in October 2003. Over the years, she was promoted to admissions records specialist in January 2005, to an admissions records representative in January 2007, and later to an admissions records officer and most recently, as an admissions records supervisor. In addition to working at Western, she worked at the Macomb VFW for many years.

She was named the Civil Service Employee of the Month in January 2009. In March 2009, Pollmeier, along with four other Admissions employees, received a "Patriotic Employer" certificate from The Department of Defense and the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for assistance in coordinating work relief for Army Reserves Spc. Wayne Quesenberry, an admissions and records specialist at Western. In April 2016, she received the Division of Student Services Act of Kindness (AoK) Award.

She received her bachelor's degree in general studies from WIU in Spring 2011.

Pollmeier is survived by her mother, Cora; one brother; a niece and nephew; and two great nieces and one great nephew.
