MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University Facilities Management Business Administrative Associate Jonathan Myers has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for March.

Myers began at WIU in July 2008 as a summer extra help employee in Facilities Management. He left in August 2008 and returned in May 2010, becoming a business manager I in Facilities Management under the trainee/intern program. He completed the intern program in November 2011 and in January 2017 he reallocated to his current position.

According to Myers' nominator, he is always helpful, always putting in the "extra effort needed to complete the day's work."

"He always pays close attention to detail in his various projects and budget reporting," said his nominator. "Facilities Management and Western Illinois University are without question in his best interest. He has gone out of his way to become the most knowledgeable sprocket expert in Facilities Management."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Christine Staley at CD-Staley@wiu.edu.
