MACOMB, IL -- Michael Hott, architectural superintendent with Western Illinois University Facilities Management, was killed in a motorcycle accident Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 12) in rural Macomb.

Hott began working at Western in August 1995. He was responsible for such projects as the new Grote Hall construction, Memorial Hall renovations, Thompson and Tanner halls lobby renovations, various athletic facilities enhancements, such as the women's basketball locker room, and most recently, the planning and upcoming construction of a campus columbarium. Hott was named Employee of the Month (EOM) in May 2008. His EOM nominator stated, "Michael approaches each project with a positive attitude and an ability to help find solutions regardless of the difficulty or intensity of the situation."

"The Western Illinois University community mourns Michael's tragic death," said President Jack Thomas. "We send our condolences and thoughts to Michael's family, friends and co-workers."

Arrangements are pending.
