William L. "Bill" Combs Obituary

MACOMB, IL – A celebration of life for family and friends of Western Illinois University History Professor Emeritus William L. "Bill" Combs will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at the Worth Community Center in Worth, MO.
Combs passed away at his home June 1.
Combs came to WIU in 1966, and taught history for 42 years, retiring in May 2008. He was the 1990 History Department Outstanding Teacher, was a regular presenter at the department's annual history conference, and made numerous presentations on German history to high school teachers throughout the state. His book on German history was highly respected, and he had also served as the faculty sponsor for the WIU Judo Club.
Combs is survived by his wife, WIU Professor Emerita Colleen Combs; sons, Eric and Bryan; four grandchildren; and three brothers, Charley, Dick and Steve.
