Kral Celebration of Life Set

A celebration of life will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Macomb Country Club.

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Career Development Center Director Emeritus Martin (Marty) Kral passed Friday, June 24 in Macomb.

Kral began his career as a counselor at WIU in September 1993. He was named assistant director of then-Career Services in 2000 and was named associate director two years later. Kral was named interim director in 2011 and director in 2013. He retired in 2019.

Kral received his bachelor's degree in speech communications and his master's degree in counseling from Northeastern University, and his doctorate from Pacific Western. He served as an advisor for Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, and enjoyed playing golf, concerts, crossword puzzles, classic movies and the Wednesday night social club at the Change of Pace. He was an avid Chicago White Sox and Chicago Blackhawks fan.

Kral is survived by a sister-in-law, Barbara Kral; a nephew, Andy Kral; a niece Lisa Elner; two great-nephews, Dylan and Luke Elner and many dear friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's.
