WIU to Hold Grand Opening of JIDE Office March 1

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University will host a grand opening of the newly formed Office of Justice, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (JIDE) from 1-3 p.m., Wednesday, March 1 in the University Union, suite 110.
The JIDE office will be responsible for strengthening and advancing the University's commitment to being a just, inclusive, diverse and equitable institution. The director actively engages with the University's students, faculty, staff and administration to carry out the responsibilities of the position, including regular reports to the President and Senior Leadership Team on the status of JIDE initiatives and impact. The office will have direct leadership and oversight of the University's diversity plan
The JIDE office will also be active in creating and delivering educational workshops, programming, training and tools to further support faculty, staff and students in achieving a greater understanding of issues pertaining to JIDE.
Carl Ervin was named interim director of the JIDE office in August 2022.
