MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Western Illinois University Administrative Aide for the Vice President for Quad Cities Campus Operations Judith Elaine Kaple has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for March.

Kaple was hired on the WIU-QC campus on April 11, 2022, in her current position.

According to Kaple's nominator, her work "exemplifies a holistic approach centered on thoughtfulness, empathy and culture-building on campus."

"Her approach to everyday tasks comes with reliability, quality and attention to detail," said her nominator. "She also goes beyond her job duties to build positive relationships on campus, across the University and with the community. She has created new avenues to bring faculty, staff, students and community members together in an inclusive, welcoming environment that makes people feel connected and valued."

Kaple's nominator said she helped plan and coordinate an art exhibit on campus, which brought faculty from multiple disciplines together and exposed students to experiential learning and created space for community members to engage in dialogue on social justice issues.

"Additionally, she established a wellness and social committee to bring the campus community together," the nominator added. "Her contributions have helped create positive morale, a sense of belonging, and team collaboration that fosters the success of WIU, its people, and especially WIU students."

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact the Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at csec-nominations-g@wiu.edu.
