WIU in Collaboration with BHC to Host Early Childhood Program Information Session June 13

MOLINE, IL - - Western Illinois University, in conjunction with Black Hawk College (BHC), is gearing up for the Fall 2023 semester and will host an Early Childhood Program information session from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 13 in Riverfront Hall, room 111 of the WIU-Quad Cities campus.

"We invite early childhood educators and workforce members from our local communities to attend and learn more about our partnering program and get on-site information to apply for the Early Childhood Access Consortium for Equity (ECACE) scholarship," said WIU Director of the Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood Lindsay Meeker.

Attendees will gain information on the steps to apply for the ECACE scholarship, which is provided by the state of Illinois. This scholarship is accessible and equitable to degree pathways in the direction of licensure in Early Childhood Education.

"In addition to providing a wonderful opportunity for workforce members to find a best-fit program that matches their goals and passions, the scholarship program has been expanded to include graduate coursework for those seeking licensure," said Meeker. "The Quad Cities has an abundance of talented Early Childhood Educators, and this is an opportunity for them to grow themselves as learners in new ways, while also being valued for the immense skills and experience that they bring to the table."

WIU and BHC offer credit for prior learned experiences in the field through a variety of options across the two institutions. Currently enrolled students can attend the session for assistance with renewing their scholarships for the upcoming year, in addition to enrollment, scholarship and FASFA assistance.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided to all attendees.
