WIU-QC to Host Welcome Week 2023
August 14, 2023
MOLINE, IL - - Western Illinois University-Quad Cities will host Welcome Week 2023 Monday-Friday, Aug. 21-25. All events are open to any WIU students, staff or faculty member.
"Welcome Week has always been a great way to start the new school year," Student Government President Ashley Danner said. "The first week of the semester can be stressful, and being able to go to an event and relax after reading the fourth syllabus of the week really breaks up the monotony. As an online student, my favorite part of Welcome Week is meeting new students and making more friends, since there isn't much socializing in the online classroom. The experience of getting to know people is so important to me.
Beginning the semester with a positive attitude sets the tone for the rest of the term. It's important to find a balance between work and leisure, and students should make time for self-care. We look forward to welcoming both familiar and new faces at our upcoming Welcome Week. Let's make this year a great one!"
The Welcome Week schedule includes:
- Monday, Aug. 21, 4-7 p.m, Building C Atrium - Grad Student Welcome
- Tuesday, Aug. 22, 11 a.m.- 1 p.m., Building C Atrium - Tie Dye with Student Government Association and Crafts with Cam
