WIU Marching Leathernecks to Perform in Metallica Competition

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Marching Leathernecks will compete in the Metallica Marching Band Competition on September 9,16 and 21.

Metallica invites marching bands of all levels to participate in a competition where they can showcase their skills by crafting unique and impressive performances of Metallica's music.

To aid them in this endeavor, Hal Leonard will provide a library of marching band charts for Metallica songs via sheetmusicdirect.com. The bands with the most outstanding performances will be awarded musical equipment for their school program, sponsored by Metallica and partners.

The Marching Leathernecks consist of students from almost every discipline on the WIU campus. These students have a strong commitment to excellence that has become an integral part of the University's legacy and the Marching Leathernecks. The band is renowned for its powerful sound and unique innovations, which have impressed audiences throughout the Midwest. The Marching Leathernecks regularly provide support for many local and regional events and enjoy a close bond with the Macomb campus community.
