Centennial Honors College's Pre-Law Symposium Oct. 10 at WIU

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Centennial Honors College will host its 21st annual Pre-Law Symposium from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10 in the University Union Brattain Lounge.
The event is free and open to the WIU community. Students interested in the study of law are encouraged to attend.
A table fair, with representatives of law schools, will be held from 5-6 p.m., with a keynote address by WIU alumna Justice Mary K. O'Brien at 6 p.m., and a panel of law students and legal professionals will be moderated by WIU Student Legal Advocate Victoria R. Smith, J.D. at 6:20 p.m.
O'Brien is a 1986 graduate of Western Illinois University with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Public Administration. Following graduation, O'Brien attended the University of Illinois College of Law and practiced law in the Will, Grundy and Kankakee County areas and was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002. She was elected to the Illinois Supreme Court Nov. 8, 2022 after serving nearly 19 years as an Appellate Court Judge for the 3rd Appellate District, including McDonough County.
Law schools scheduled to attend the table fair include the Chicago-Kent College of Law; Indiana University Maurer School of Law; Northern Illinois University College of Law; Saint Louis University School of Law; Southern Illinois University School of Law-Carbondale; University of Illinois Chicago School of Law; University of Illinois College of Law-Urbana; University of Missouri School of Law; University of St. Thomas School of Law-Minneapolis and the University of Wisconsin Law School.
